Hospital Workers Union Takes Protest Against McDonald's to Woodhull Hospital

BUSINESS WIRE

Wednesday August 27

Municipal Hospital Workers Union, Local 420, DC 37, AFSCME is continuing its boycott against McDonald's in the public hospitals with a rally at Woodhull Hospital planned for today. Woodhull Hospital has contracted out their employee cafeteria to the fast food giant. The union is fighting this contract because it contends that McDonald's offers a menu that consists primarily of high cholesterol fatty foods. It charges that workers should be offered a variety of choices including healthier choices of lunch items. The union has ongoing boycotts at Elmhurst and Queens Hospital Center where McDonald's has taken over.
