ALBERT Beale, above, is a happy man after he and other anti-McDonald's campaigners once again frustrated the burger multinational's efforts to extend opening hours at two Camden branches.

On Tuesday Camden Council's licensing committee postponed, for a third time, a decision on granting new night cafe licences for restaurants in Euston Road, King's Cross and New Oxford Street, Bloomsbury.

Councillors decided to defer the matter after the environmental activists claimed the police and fire brigade had not been properly consulted.

This was only done after Mr Beale and his colleague Ruth Gurny had argued for more than three hours that the applications made in the name of the store managers should be thrown out for a series of procedural and technical faults.

The pair also threatened to take legal action against the council if it had disregarded their objections this week. The King's Cross application will now be considered again on Tuesday and the other next Thursday.
