Somehow, it does not suprise me that the United Snakes would do this-after all, a lot of "MIA's" defected to the Viet Cong and this was a HUGE embarassment to the U$. Since the issue that got me into politics was draft registration resistance(I refused!) I am well aware of many,many U$ crimes in Vietnam. While I did not know about the gas until now, it would have suprised me if the U$ passed up a chance to kill defectors. After all, the Russians killed theirs, ad so did Quaddafi(libya). This is the kind of company the U$ has been keeping on human rights. It has long been known that the Marines had special units to kill dissenting GI's from the rear during combat, and, of course, this was a two-way street as dissenting GI's would frag officers oan as necessary basis. The pentagon recommended withdrawal from Vietnam in 1971 on the grounds that Resistance forces were becoming too powerful inside the army.
