: What is the red and black flag about?
: If the inverted stars and stripes is a US thing then is the natioanl flag of your country invert a anarchist thing for your country?
: Just one sentence answers I'm not that interested.

A Black flag probably stood for "noflag" as in no nation(s). Red flags originally were used in war as a challenge to battle-red being the color of blood. For instance, in the early rears of sailing ships mounting canno, the Royal Navy would hoist an ensign(flag) showing the British flag of the time in the upper left corner(by the pole)of a red flag. Therefor, a red and black flag used byanarchists could be considered an invitation to do battle aimed at the state. -Luke

McSpotlight: Luke, I don't think the Red Ensign is that old; secondly, it's the symbol of the Merchant Navy (the Royal Navy flies the White Ensign - a flag of St. George with a Union flag in the top left quadrant). As far as I know, the standard used by Elizabethan ships was the King's or captain's.
