: You Europeans have it made. You have socialist and worker's political parties that have an actual voice. Over here, that sort of thing is viewed as the diaboloical 'lunatic fringe element' (horrors!!!!).

: I would love to live in a country where socialists were actually taken seriously, and not swept under the rug as some sort of deviance. Everyone is hypnotized by the media over here. It's sad.

Well I know youse have it bad because socialism in America is looked upon as some kind of mental disorder and it's only gathered marginal acceptance in it's anti-state form whether it's libertrian or completely anarchist but Europe isnt much better.

Tony Blair and Anthony Giddens are trying to create the same circumstances here in the UK, I mean Blair described colleagues who had problems shaking of socialist conciousces as physcologically flawed!!

France is showing the way and Sweden is an brillant example of parliamentary libertarian Socialism, it's mainly because people can express disatisfaction with capitalism without being viewed as spiritually "fallen" or anything but central planning isnt favoured either mixed economies of the swedish model I think will be the path for Europe but the ever present problem of employing statism while trying to avoid facism or stalinism is ever present.
