: SDF: Even under capitalism, people could just volunteer to build factories from their own private stocks of raw materials, and no investors would be necessary. Moving money around is not necessary for people to build things.

Did I say money investment was the exclusive form of investment?

: SDF: Socialists on this board do not advocate the things you associate with "socialism," yet you continue to make such associations.

Socialists on this board are not all alike, observe BS's accusation regarding Lark's socialism and a critique of Nikhils' socialism above. Likewise the things you accuse 'capitalists' of being and doing are a broad range of differing views.

I'll credit that you have no illusions of egalitarianism with regard to any possible socialist future.

Lets look at desire as objective.

Man A is starving - one can verify that by studying his physiology, thus his desire for bread is objective.

Man B is unhappy - we can verify this by looking as physiological features, and by analysis of the person, thus his desire for something pleasurable (yachts!) is objective.

How do we rank which 'need' comes first in a system where votes are supposedly all that matter?

On what absolute basis do we consider people's needs (self expressed of otherwise) relative to their stated desires and how is that going to be managed in society?
