New Zealand Resists McDonald's!

March 1999

McDonald's are trying to open a new branch in KeriKeri (a small town north of Auckland) and some young kids have started a campaign to keep them out of town.

One of the activists was interviewed on the Holmes show (the main TV news programme) last night but McDonald's refused to appear.

Last night there was a public meeting in KeriKeri with quite a good turn out. McDonald's sent some heavy lawyers and PR people along to intimidate the organisers but it failed and there is now quite a bit of media coverage.

This morning Richard (one of the Kerikeri activists) was interviewed again on Kim Hill's national radio show.
