     2        side of the first line, after "part-time" and "starting
     3        date" -- is 3.15?
     4        A.  Yes.

     6   Q.   That was starting rate.  The next page should be an
     7        orientation checklist, is it?
     8        A.  Yes.

    10   Q.   Good.  It says in print:  "Tick each item as it is
    11        covered.  When orientation is completed, sign and date at
    12        the bottom of the checklist".  At the bottom of the page
    13        there are two signatures and date; the first reads
    14        "A. Beech" and the second one is yours, is it not?
    15        A.  Yes.

    17   Q.   The date is 8th November 1993.  How is this form completed?
    18        A.  Well, it is at the orientation.

    20   Q.   Tell us what an orientation is because I do not think we
    21        have had a proper description.
    22        A.  No.  Basically, it is just an insight into McDonald's
    23        and, obviously, covering important things, health and
    24        safety, for the crew members.  So, the first things we
    25        would do is both watch a video, welcome to the team -- it
    26        has Frank Bruno in it so it lightens it up a bit -- and we
    27        just go through a fire, hygiene and safety instruction
    28        which instructs the crew member what happens if there is a
    29        fire, and what health and safety things do McDonald's
    30        follow.

    32        Then we will do health and safety.  We will do a video of
    33        health and safety and a small test to back that up, and
    34        then we will do a hygiene induction and a small test to
    35        back that up.  Then we will go through the Handbook, the
    36        Crew Handbook and, basically, what they have ticked from
    37        holidays to fire, hygiene and safety, go through every
    38        single one and talk about it.

    40   Q.   Roughly speaking, how long does this whole process take?
    41        A.  It is about two and a half hours.

    43   Q.   Right.  The first entry is called, "Preliminary
    44        orientation.  Welcome section of Handbook, your new job"
    45        and there is a tick on that.  Who wrote in that tick, you
    46        or Mr. Beech?
    47        A.  Mr. Beech.
