DAY 212
KIM MOFFATT, Cross-examined:
A. Yes.

Q. -- when there is probably 10 times as many tourists
travelling through, that there will be turnover -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That surprises me, actually, knowing a bit --
just general knowledge experience about Heathrow as
opposed, for instance, to Gatwick or Stansted. You have
said it about the latter two London airports, and I have
gone along with you. But whether it is so with regard to
Heathrow -----

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness) What kind of levels of turnover
are greater in the summer at the Heathrow store? What I am
saying is, if you take £5,000 one week in March, what would
be the equivalent if you did that in June or July?
A. I could not say. It is different. I could not say.
I would say probably 5,800; that is spread completely over
a week. I would not like to hazard a guess.

MS. STEEL: When Mark Riley was the Store Manager and the store
was understaffed, what did he do to recruit more crew and
Managers as well?
A. With crew, we used to go to the Job Centre which was
opposite; maybe, I would say about every fortnight I would
go over there and set up open days.

Q. In the store, not in the Job Centre?
A. In the Job Centre, they would let us use the room, yes.

Q. Are you saying open days once a fortnight?
A. No. I said -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You went to the Job Centre opposite about
once a fortnight?
A. Once a fortnight and occasionally, you know, would hold
an open day.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Ms. Steel is asking you about the open days;
how many of those?
A. I would say once every three months.

MS. STEEL: What other steps were taken?
A. We would have hiring posters in the store, application
forms on the information board; we had a crew incentive for
the crew, that if they introduced someone, they would get a
reward, and if the person stayed, then, you know, they
would get something like £10.

Q. How long did they have to stay for?
A. Just the probationary period.

Q. Were the rates of pay put up to encourage more crew to come
and work there?
A. Not that I can recall, no.

Q. Was that basically the same situation when John Nevison was
Manager, as well?
A. No, not as much. I did not have as much time made for
me to go over. There was not as much, no.
