DAY 212
KIM MOFFATT, Cross-examined:
A. Yes.

Q. -- it says: "The following rate charges were proposed
during the pay periods"?
A. Yes.

Q. When it says "proposed", is that because it has to go up to
Head Office to be authorised?
A. No, it basically just means they have worked out when
this person was due a pay rise, or this is when a pay rise
was made.

Q. Just the word "proposed", though, why is it proposed?
A. I am not sure.

Q. No doubt it could be worked out, but the average wage for
the store seems to be something round about 3.40, something
like that. There are a lot of 3.15s in those but they
might be new ------
A. They are new starters.

Q. Is there anything on the sheet which tells you it is a new
employee?
A. Yes, the "S" at the end after -- all the "Ss".

Q. "Ss", start?
A. Yes.

Q. I see. So in March 94 there were a lot of new employees
taken on?
A. Yes.

Q. That is on page 35?
A. Yes.

Q. Yes, on page 39, that continues up to April. But if we go
to maybe a more average sheet on page 43 -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Which one were you looking at for that?

MR. MORRIS: They are both 35 and 39. They seem to have a lot
of new starters.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I cannot see that on 35, unless I am looking
at the wrong place for the Ss.

MS. STEEL: The end.

MR. MORRIS: The last column.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I see, yes.

MR. MORRIS: It has "Starters". That was under John Nevison,
yes, March 94?
A. Yes -- I think so. I will have to check.

Q. Pardon?
A. I would have to check but .....

Q. Is that not what we have been told? I cannot remember, to
