                                                                  DAY 213

                                            PAUL LEMAIRE, Cross-examined:

you to think about is this: some of the people I have
heard are going to have hated McDonald's; some of the
people I have heard are going to have loved it. What may
be more important is to see what the generality of
conditions of work are for the generality of people who are
not one extreme or the other.

MR. MORRIS: The point is, the only people that have loved it so
far are people still in the employment of McDonald's. They
cannot find a single person outside their employ to come in
       and say what -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is the last thing I am going to say. If
you apply your mind to what the system is, what general
themes you can get out of it, then at the end of the day
pick on the ones which you think help your point and make
sure I have taken them on board.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. I am just seeing what to go on to next.

(To the witness): How many times did you do double shifts,
       say, in an average month?
       A. As a Manager?

  Q. Yes, as a Floor Manager?
       A. None, to my knowledge.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Have you told me how old you are?
       A. How -----

  Q. How old you are?
       A. 21.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

MR. RAMPTON: I think the evidence was 22 in March.

  THE WITNESS: That is correct.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I thought I had heard something.
       I could not remember.

MS. STEEL: In paragraph 4 of your statement -- I do not know
       whether you have that there?
       A. Well .....

  Q. I do not know where it is, to be honest.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is yellow XB, and divider 39M, please.
       A. Paragraph -- sorry?

  MS. STEEL: Paragraph 4.
       A. OK.

  Q. In the middle of the paragraph, you say that you have
always assumed that anyone working on the shift after
12 o'clock was over 18. Why did you assume that?
       A. Because, as a Manager, when you check to see if people
are under 18, when you go and check what time they clocked
in and out, you need a password, and I had not obtained
