                                                                  DAY 213

                                            PAUL LEMAIRE, Cross-examined:

  Q. But it would be someone from one of the food stations?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Right. Did you used to complain about understaffing at the
time when it was a problem?
       A. When it was a problem, we all, like I said, needed to
get more staff in so the Managers would then think of ideas
       on how to recruit staff.

  Q. But it had no effect?
       A. It had an effect but we all worked together thinking of
ideas and discussing it at Managers' meetings.

  Q. Did you used to complain about the amount of pressure when
       it was understaffed?
       A. We did not use to complain but when we were
understaffed we just worked really well. Everyone just
helped each other out. Although it was understaffed, we
       were working really quickly.

  Q. You had to work harder?
       A. Well, harder, but it got easier because you kept doing
it over and over again a day or two so you got used to it.

  Q. I think I have finished, but I am just checking.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: Is McDonald's your only source of income?
       A. Yes, it is.

  Q. Right. No further questions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, thank you.

MR. RAMPTON: I have no re-examination.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No. Thank you Mr. Lemaire.

                       (The witness withdrew)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will take our five minute break there.

                      (Short adjournment)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It just occurred to me, what is the position
on Friday afternoon at the moment, Mr. Morris?

MR. MORRIS: I have cancelled my appointment on Friday
afternoon. I am not sure how long Mr. Rampton is going to
       cross-examine for.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It does not matter because I wanted to find
out about that, but the point occurs to me that if we make
good progress with the remaining McDonald's Heathrow
witnesses, and if Mr. Beech (who I see has been here some
time anyway) is going to come again tomorrow, I suggest you
get ready to call him tomorrow if we get there which will
make it all the more likely that we finish the Heathrow
       witnesses this week.
