                                                                  DAY 213

                                        STEPHEN PLAISTER, Cross-examined:

       A. The training squad, yes.

  Q. Right. Why does it say in your statement that you had been
a trainee Manager for nearly four years?
       A. Well, because as you work along, you are gaining more
experience to become a Floor Manager anyway through on-job
       training.

  Q. But that was not your position?
       A. No, it was not my position, no.

  Q. We have heard the evidence that there were under 18-year
olds working past midnight and the related matters, so
would you accept that there were things going on at the
store that you obviously did not know about?
       A. I would not know, I was not official -- I did not work
       the hours.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, that occurred to me, but it is only the
first two months you would see it?
       A. Yes, only the first.

  Q. If it happened at all?
       A. Yes, and then I was only, like, I did not know what I
was doing anyway in the first two weeks because it is just
       training.

MS. STEEL: You said the longest shift you have ever worked was
a 14 hour shift. Why did you want to work a 14 hour shift?
       A. What it was, the Store Manager came up to me at the
time and he wanted some shelves put up in the back room, so
I was not doing anything that night and I said, yes, I
       would do them for him.

  Q. Right. That took 14 hours?
       A. No, it did not because I had already done my shift
beforehand. He said about the shelves and I said: "Well,
I can do them for you" so I did the shelves.

  Q. So that was when you had finished your shift he asked you
if you could put up the shelves?
       A. He was mentioning about the shelves because he had
asked me to do them one day, and I said: "Well, I am not
doing anything tonight, can I do them now?"

  Q. You mentioned about seeing 10 people running the kitchen
sometimes or at sometime, when was it that you saw 10
       people running the kitchen?
       A. What, 10 people in the kitchen?

  Q. Yes.
       A. It would have been when we was training up the Feltham
crew, when the Feltham store opened.

  Q. When was that?
       A. I am sorry, I do not know dates.

  Q. Roughly, you know, two years ago, three years ago?
       A. About two years ago, I would have said.
