Day 214 - 01 02 96 - Page 14

                                                                  DAY 214

                                                 DAVID ROBERTS, Examined:

  Q. Yes. Then it was after a while, was it, that you say you
scheduled them only to 11.00 or half past?
       A. Yes, after a couple of weeks we had people to work
       those hours anyway.

  Q. You mean over 18s?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So you only scheduled under-18s to 11.00 or 11.30, you are
       saying?
       A. Whichever hours they requested. If they requested to
work until half past 11.00, there was not a problem with
the schedule whereby they would have to work past that
       time.

  Q. So that is what you mean in paragraph 7 of your statement,
is it? "As soon as I had managed to recruit extra crew
members I ensured that this did not happen again"?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Yes.

MR. RAMPTON: While you have that open, paragraph 7, you go on:
"Similarly, I found out that some of the Managers had been
altering clock cards in order to hide the fact that crew
members under 18 years old had been working past
12 o'clock". How did you discover that?
       A. As I said, from Kim Moffatt, she told me that it had
       been happening.

  Q. Right. The next paragraph in Mr. Beech's statement, "(B)
Pay" says: "Mr. Beech has discovered from looking at the
disclosed documents that he is owed £59.72 holiday pay".
He goes on: "No-one ever told him that he was entitled to
any holiday pay". Mr. Roberts ignore the last sentence
because Miss Moffatt has dealt with that. What I would
like you to look at is a document which we now have which
is at the back of the Heathrow file which is the slim one
beside you. It should be the last document in the file.
It is the pay period in question. It is one of the payroll
summary sheets. It is from 23rd October 94 to 5th November
       94.

MR. MORRIS: What number are we on?

MR. RAMPTON: It is the document which was disclosed yesterday
       afternoon. Have you got it?
       A. Yes, I have, yes.

  Q. The date of the actual document is the 8.11.1994. Does
       your Lordship have it?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What I did was put in the back of mine the
clip I was given, and the last sheet of that is -- did you
       mean the last whole document?

MR. RAMPTON: No, sorry, I did not mean the last sheet. I meant
it is the first sheet of the last clip.
