DAY 214
DAVID ROBERTS, Examined:
wrap and call. Obviously, if there is a Manager working
there, they may have to do it at some point in their shift.

Q. Somebody else would then replace them on the wrap and call?
A. Yes.

Q. E, at the bottom of the page, "Scheduling": "If you did not
play the game and be 'cooperative' with what Managers
asked, you could be penalised" -- I think the word is, not
"punished", as I read it the other day -- "with the worst
jobs or low hours." Does that ring any bells with you?
A. I do not recall playing any games with the schedule.

Q. Do you ever recall either having done or having asked
somebody else to do this, saying to a crew member: "If you
do not work on this evening, tomorrow you will get the
lavatory cleaning or even get less hours than you have
asked for"?
A. No, I have never said it.

Q. I think that is all from me. Thank you, Mr. Roberts.
Thank you very much. (Pause) Sorry. Mrs. Brinley-Codd
reminds me there is one more thing. I am sorry, it is
because I did not look at the last page of Mr. Beech's
statement.

At the top, he says, at F*: "When he left it was a huge
relief." Do you see that?
A. Yes, I do.

Q. Did you interview Mr. Beech when he left?
A. I spoke to him when he told me he was leaving, yes.

Q. What is was the nature of your conversation; what happened;
what was said?
A. At that time, there was quite a few people who were
leaving to return to college; and, because of the crew
situation as it had been, I made a point of speaking to
those people, asking them if they would be returning in
December. Obviously, at that time, I did not know what the
crew situation in December would be like.

Q. For December?
A. For December, yes. I was still relatively new to the
restaurant, so I wanted to make sure we would have enough
people further down the line; and I asked him if he would
be coming back in December.

Q. What did he say?
A. "Yes".

Q. He said "yes". I mention, Mr. Roberts, because it is
convenient to do it now, his leaving code was 7, which
I think is mutually agreed?
A. That is correct.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes, thank you.

MS. STEEL: Where do you find the leaving code 7?
