     1        Portakabin outside the building and they had to cross the
     2        yard, on the clean side of the abattoir, to get into the
     3        building.  This is against EC regulations and, thus,
     4        constitutes a risk of airborne contamination and risk of
     5        bringing in contamination via the footwear; particularly
     6        since, at the time of my stay at Jarrets, there were no
     7        boot washes at the entrances.  I can point out later on the
     8        map where the men changed their clothes.

    10   Q.    Do you have a copy of the map there?
    11        A.  Yes, it was here.

    15   MR. RAMPTON:  My Lord, there are, I think, two maps.  The larger
    16        scale one is an enlargement of the slaughterhouse,
    17        slaughter area, of the smaller scale one.

    19   THE WITNESS:   I have in front of me a map now that has a date
    20        18th April 1995 on it.  It is a large scale map, and it
    21        is -----

    23   MR. MORRIS:  A large scale one.  Sorry, that is the smaller
    24        scale, but larger map.
    25        A.  Yes; and this is different from the map that I was
    26        presented with when I gave evidence last time.

    28   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  Yes, we know that.  But I thought I had
    29        managed to find my map.  So I confess that although
    30        I re-read your evidence, I had not looked at the maps.
    31        Both mine have got "job no. 180/080" on; neither has a date
    32        which I can see.  I wonder if they are just two copies of
    33        the same plan?

    37   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  The ones tucked in the back, with some colour
    38        on them, they are the ones which are the newer ones, are
    39        they?

    41   MR. MORRIS:  The smaller scale but larger map is dated, in the
    42        bottom right-hand corner, 18th April 1995.

    44   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  Yes.

    46   MR. MORRIS:  I think the one we are all looking at now, the
    47        larger map -----

    49   THE WITNESS:   I do not have with me the map that was presented
    50        to me last time, but I can point out the areas where this 
    51        map is different, even according to Mr. Bone's statement. 
    52        He says in his statement that the sterilizers for pithing 
    53        rod and hide puller chains were not marked on the map that
    54        I saw last April.

    56   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  I would rather you kept away from that,
    57        unless it is essential to your evidence, because, for
    58        better or worse, it is said that this one is an accurate
    59        one now.  So, if you say it is not, I would like you to
    60        tell me where it is not.
