                                                                  DAY 217

                                                     MRS. HOVI, Examined:

June or July 1994 after I left Jarrets.

  Q. I think you gave evidence before that this is something you
were saying that they should -----
       A. Well, particularly in the light of the fact that the
men had to enter the slaughter hall from outside,
I considered it extremely important that their footwear be
       washed before they enter.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think you started your reference to the
plan by saying you could say where the Portakabin was?
       A. At the ------

  Q. Where was that?
       A. The Portakabin is -- you see a room called "mess"
attached to the lairage at the bottom left-hand corner of
       the map.

  Q. Yes.
       A. That is where the men changed their -- they got their
clean clothing every morning from the room called linen
store. They walked outside to the mess with the clean
       clothing.

  Q. Was the linen store where it is shown on the map, on the
       plan?
       A. Yes. These were all Portakabins, separate buildings
       from the abattoir.

  Q. Yes.
       A. They walked outside in the mess, changed their clothes
       and again entered -----

  Q. The mess was a Portakabin, as well, was it?
       A. That was a Portakabin as well. Then they entered the
abattoir through the door next to the mess changing room
toilets block. There is a door leading to a stairway which
goes upstairs to where vets office and slaughters hall
manager's hall office is; and then they enter slaughter
hall at the entrance where the booth wash now is marked.

  Q. Yes.
       A. These were the major changes on the map, as far as I am
concerned, since I gave evidence last.

  Q. Yes, I appreciate there are changes. What I thought you
were going to tell me -- and you started to do so -- you
have had an opportunity to look at this, have you?
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- anywhere where you think it is not on the map as it was
when you worked there. You told me about the pithing rod
sterilizer and the puller chain sterilizer.
       A. Yes.

  Q. Were there any other -----
       A. The boot wash, obviously.

  Q. And the boot wash?
       A. There are not any other major changes as far as the
