                                                                  DAY 217

                                                     MRS. HOVI, Examined:

there in 1994. I understand her to say that otherwise it
       is accurate. Yes, Mr. Rampton?

MR. RAMPTON: All I was going to say was, I do not know that
there is four. The green boot wash, it is accepted, was
not there when she was there.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. RAMPTON: It says so on the actual map.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: When I say "inaccuracies", I mean inaccurate
not in a pejorative sense, but in the sense that it does
not portray things as they were in April 1994.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I thought she had accepted that the
drawing of the mess chamber and toilet for the men and also
the first floor above, for the other people, was
representative of what was there when she was there.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I have not said that, have I?

MR. RAMPTON: I am sorry. I thought it was the only two
differences that she noticed, from what she remembered, was
the pithing rod sterilizer and the hide chain sterilizer.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, and the boot wash which, as is common
       ground, came in later anyway.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, that is right, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: The final one is that it does not show a
double rubber door where the other chute goes in, and she
says there is a double rubber door under there.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, it is accepted that the two bins which
take the fore feet and the hind feet bins, which are two
separate bins, do go through into the hide skin rooms, so
whether it is through the chute or some other gap in that
       wall really does not matter.

MS. STEEL: I am not clear what Mr. Rampton is saying the
witness is accepting with regards to the mess and the
       changing room.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness) The mess that you have referred
to, Mrs. Hovi, is the one on the bottom left, next to the
       13?
       A. I have referred to that only, not to express an
inaccuracy in the map. I refer to that because I was
talking about the ninth paragraph in Mr. Bone's statement
       where he states that -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You say that is where the mess and the linen
store were, but they were Portakabins, and you had to walk
from the mess, after getting changed, through the door
which is down the side of the other mess, changing room
toilet, and then into the slaughter hall itself?
       A. Yes.
