                                                                  DAY 217

                                                     MRS. HOVI, Examined:

was dissatisfied with. (To the witness) I take it that if
someone had come in while you were there and passed
everything, you would still give the evidence you have
       given?
       A. Yes, of course I would.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You might be cross-examined then on the
basis that you were setting too high a standard. Mrs. Hovi
has told me what she thinks.

MS. STEEL: I just have one thing on the map, which is -- I do
not know whether you have a copy of the old map there?
       A. No, I do not.

  Q. I have a note on my previous one that around the legging
and transfer platform -- this is on the old map -----

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: The what?

MS. STEEL: The legging and transfer platform. That is on the
old map. It is near the hoist. Mrs. Hovi has said about
the hand wash that was marked on the old map was not shown
as being on the platform and was, in fact, eight feet
higher up. I was wondering whether it was marked correctly
       on the new map?
       A. As far as I can see on the new map, it is marked
correctly. The apron was sterilizer, that seems to be on
the side of the platform, is on the ground level, and the
hand wash is on the platform.

  Q. That is correct, as you remember it?
       A. That is correct as I remember it, yes.

  Q. OK.
       A. My own criticism about that apron was that it was too
far from the man who was doing the pithing and the opening
of the skin for him to use it correctly; plus, also, there
was no sterilizer for the pithing rod. It should have been
there but it was not there.

  Q. OK.

  MR. MORRIS: No further questions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We will adjourn until 2 o'clock.

                       (Luncheon adjournment)

MR. MORRIS: We have not got any further questions. I wanted to
remind the court that was I going to leave at
       three o'clock.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. I had completely forgotten that.

MR. MORRIS: If we could review the situation at 10 to three to
see what is happening because, obviously, if Miss Hovi can
finish today, if she does, then that is fine. I have
indicated that is fine anyway. If I am not here, it might
be better if she is continues on either Monday or Tuesday.
