Day 217 - 09 02 96 - Page 43

                                                                  DAY 217

  Q. Now can I ask you, please, to get out the plans -- and you
will need both. Please take first the large scale one,
which is an enlargement of the slaughter hall taken from
the small scale one. I understand you to say today that
the two major disagreements you have with this plan are
that it marks by the cattle stun pen steps a place for a
pithing rod sterilizer -- number 1, yes?
       A. That is right.

  Q. -- which you say did not exist when you were there?
       A. Yes that is right.

  Q. And, second, that there is marked a hide chain sterilizer
in the hide skin room to the right; is that right?
       A. That is right.

  Q. Now, you have read the statement of Mr. Bone?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You have read that he says that apart from the boot wash,
which is in green, and apart from the renewal of the
equipment, this plan represents what was in the slaughter
hall for all the time that he has worked there?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You read that?
       A. Yes, I did read that.

  Q. You got on quite well with Mr. Bone, did you not?
       A. Yes, I felt that it was very helpful to have him when
he started working. He seemed to be more co-operative than
       the management of the plant.

  Q. You worked there for a total of ten days, I think, did you
       not?
       A. A total of four weeks.

  Q. Sorry, four weeks, was it?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I think you told me you worked 14 and a half
days and spread over something like the week of the 5th to
the 9th, and then the week after that, and then the final
week of April. That is what you said when you were here
       before?
       A. I was employed as the OVS as Jarrets for a month.
I started on 1st April and I was away for one week, for one
week out of four weeks, during which I visited the plant
three times to negotiate with my employer who took over my
tasks and negotiated the various reports and requirements
that we had stated to make improvements; and so I was
employed there for four weeks, under which time ------

MR. RAMPTON: I think we calculated last time, Mrs. Hovi -- tell
me if I am wrong about this, but I think you agreed with
it -- that you were actually in the plant for a total of
about 124 hours and a bit. Is that right?
       A. How many days would that be?

  Q. 124 hours and a bit.
