                                                                  DAY 217

I saw them in my offices.

  Q. When you say your office, you mean the OVS's office?
       A. That is right.

  Q. I cannot remember whether we discussed this last time,
because I do not have total recall. The staff of Jarrets
do not have access to the documents in the OVS office, do
they, unless the OVS gives permission?
       A. No. But copies of these documents goes to Jarrets,
       Bob Jarret.

  Q. Apart from those two disagreements that you have with
Mr. Bone -- well, there are really three, because he says
there is only one man who does the whole of the stunning
and sticking operation, whereas you say there were two when
you were there -- apart from that, you disagree about the
presence of a pithing rod sterilization unit and you
disagree about the existence or, at any rate, the evidence
       of a hide chain sterilizer?
       A. That is right.

  Q. Apart from that, as I understand it, apart from some things
which I think you say are fairly minor, so far as this plan
is concerned, you agree that it is accurate?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So, can we take it that there are, therefore, all the
washing points and sterilization points which are marked on
this map now and when you were there?
       A. As far as I can remember, yes.

  Q. Looking at the plan, this large scale plan, can you tell
us, please, which of the operatives that are marked does
not have convenient access to a hand wash and sterilizer
       for his instruments?
       A. Well, we can start from the beginning of the slaughter
       line.

  Q. Sorry, my fault, can you start again?
       A. I start from the beginning of the slaughter line. Like
I said, the man who hoists the animal up, he said that with
the speed that he had to or felt he had to work, he did not
have time to use the sterilizer because it was too far.

The man who bleeds the animal who stands in the blood
trough, in my opinion, did not have access, whether he
wanted or not, he did not have convenient access to the
       hand wash and sterilizer.

The man who works under the platform removes the front feet
-- under the transfer hoist platform -- he did not have
access to sterilizer or hand wash facility, near enough, or
he had access to an apron wash or -- yes, he did not have
access. They often used the head wash facility, which is a
bit like an apron wash facility, to rinse their hands, but
there was no sterilizer there. He is the third man.

  Q. Please pause there. You say there is no sterilizer there?
       A. Yes.
