                                                                  Day 236

MR. RAMPTON: No. We cannot find the original statement. The
Defendants will not be entitled to see the original
statement anyway. What they would be entitled to see is
       the original attachment.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: They are entitled to see the original
exhibit. Call them exhibits to it; the documents referred
       to.

MR. RAMPTON: Call it what you like; I do not know where that
is. The fact is the original statement had exhibited to it
copies of the documents anyway because the original signed
statement was made in 1993, I think, which was long after
the publication or most of the publications is referred to.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Are the originals of TEC1 et cetera, that is
the documents actually referred to in the statements
       actually in court?

MR. RAMPTON: One of them, which is the leaflet complained.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: TEC1.

MR. RAMPTON: And the photographs and the videos are. The
others, I think not. If we started tomorrow at 10.30, we
would undertake to bring the originals of the exhibits to
court, or else to show them to the Defendants or whatever
       before then.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That appears again in TC4.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes. There is some duplication anyway. The
       others are --

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Wherever we start Mr. Carroll, if I rise in a
moment anyway, there is no reason why Ms. Steel and
Mr. Morris should not be shown the original of TEC1, is
       there?

MR. RAMPTON: None at all. It is here.

MS. STEEL: Can I just clarify something which your Lordship,
and from what Mr. Rampton was saying. The documents that
are attached to Mr. Carroll's original statement, is he
saying that they are not copies of the documents which
Mr. Carroll says he picked up on that day?

MR. RAMPTON: They are exactly that. They are copies of
originals which were picked up on the particular days and
the date of collection is on the top of each document.
Those copies were made from the originals for the purpose
of Mr. Carroll's original statement. They are copies of
originals and the original is ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I am not going to stop you asking these
questions, but if it actually helps you, Mr. Rampton can
only say what he his instructions are and that eventually
goes back to Mr. Carroll. So you are perfectly entitled
when he is in the witness box, when Mr. Rampton having
