                                                                  Day 236

                                        TERENCE EDMUND CARROLL - EXAMINED

       McDonald's?
       A. Certainly Mr. Nicholson knew about them. Several
members of my staff did. In fact, it was quite a common
topic of conversation. Many members of the company knew
       about them.

  Q. Was Mr. Nicholson present on this occasion?
       A. He was, yes.

  Q. Where was he stationed so far as you can remember?
       A. I think he had what they call a "roving commission" to
a certain extent. He was certainly up in the entrance to
the main building and I saw him walking around a few times,
although I did not actually keep an eye on him all the
       time.

  Q. One final question then. Could you reach for the big fat
file, the Counterclaim Documents, Volume 1, and please turn
       to tab 78?
       A. I have not got a 78 in this.

  Q. Is it volume 1?
       A. It is volume 2.

  Q. It is volume 1.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is volume 1, Mr. Carroll, right near the
       back.
       A. Yes, I have it, Mr. Rampton.

MR. RAMPTON: Is that your name at the bottom?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Is that your signature of your first name, your christian
       name?
       A. Yes, it is.

  Q. At the top we see the addressee who is Paul Preston with
copies to Mr. Nicholson, Mrs. Brinley-Codd, the solicitor,
and it comes from you. Its subject is the London
Greenpeace Protest and its date is 18th October 1989, 2
days after the demonstration. Do you see that?
       A. I do.

  Q. You write:

"On Monday, 16th October 1989 at 4.00 p.m. on the pavement
outside Head Office, London Greenpeace organised a small
demonstration against this company and our products." and
       then there are some blanks:

"The demonstration dispersed at about 6.30. There was no
damage to property and no arrests. The demonstration was
as follows: At about 3.30 p.m., 6 people met outside the
East Finchley Underground Station. Between then and 4
p.m., the group rose to about 15 young people. Their ring
leader appeared to be Paul Gravett, aged about 20 to 25, 5
foot 4 inches, thin build, cropped hair" and then there is
       a blank:
