Day 237 - 18 04 96 - Page 13

     1
     2 Q. -- collected yourself?
     3
4 MS. STEEL: When were they given to you?
5 A. After the meeting on the following morning, and even
6 the day after that they were turning up.
     7
8 Q. So they were not coming up and handing them to you on the
     9 picket?
10 A. No. Some were given to my associates and they gave
    11 them to me later.
    12
13 Q. On page 2 of your statement, can you tell us who was the
14 Regional Manager who took these photographs of the
    15 demonstration on 16th October?
16 A. It could be one of three; either Mr. Laurie, Mr. Roots,
17 or Mr. Hornblower. I am not sure which. I think it was
18 Mr. Laurie, but again it is quite a long time ago.
    19
20 Q. They are Regional Managers?
21 A. One Regional Manager -- he was not then but he is now
    22 -- Mr. Laurie.
    23
    24 Q. Right?
25 A. I would add, he took them on my instructions.
    26
27 Q. Yes, I understand. You cannot remember which one it was
    28 though?
29 A. No, I think it was probably Mr. Laurie.
    30
31 Q. Did you take any photographs yourself that day?
32 A. No, I do not think so, no. I think I was on the steps
    33 most of the time.
    34
35 Q. Do you remember an occasion, I think it was 16th October
36 1989, but I may be wrong, when you had about three cameras
37 outside and you used them to take photographs of the
    38 protest?
    39 A. No.
    40
    41 Q. You do not?
42 A. You mean me personally?
    43
44 Q. You with your security guards or department or whatever?
45 A. Well, very possibly I should think Mr. Laurie would
46 have had at least two cameras there, but I do not
47 specifically remember the 1989 demonstration as being one
48 which had a lot of cameras there.
    49
50 Q. Can I just ask you about the photographs which appear in
51 tab 4 of pink volume II?
    52
53 MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is the bottom, that is right, divider 4.
    54
55 MS. STEEL: If you have a look through those photographs. (
56 Same handed) Do you recognise those photographs?
    57 A. I recognise them of a demonstration in 1989. I do not
    58 specifically -----
    59
60 Q. Do you know whether you took them?

                                      13
