Day 237 - 18 04 96 - Page 19

       A. Somewhere about then, yes.

  Q. When you signed your statement and confirmed the
appendices, you were shown photocopies of the leaflets
       rather than original copies?
       A. I would think I would probably have been shown the
       originals.

  Q. Right, but you were not in a position to say whether or not
those specific leaflets were the specific ones?
       A. Not specifically, no.

  Q. When was it that you say you saw me handing out leaflets on
the picket? Was it at the beginning of the picket, the
end, the middle, throughout the picket?
       A. Throughout.

  Q. Throughout?
       A. Yes.

  Q. So I was not doing it furtively just for a couple of
       minutes?
       A. No.

  Q. That was the fact sheet complained of?
       A. Yes.

  Q. For how long were you observing me?
       A. I was at the demonstration from the start to the finish
which would have been, what, 3.30 until about just after
       6.00.

  Q. Your evidence is that when you saw me I was either -- I do
not know how to put the distance between Mr. Rampton and
Mr. Carroll -- about 30 feet or something?
       A. Well, at times I was as close to you as I was then.

  Q. Then at other times?
       A. A bit further away.

  Q. 30 to 40 yards away, you said?
       A. I do not think you ever went down to the tube station.
I think you stayed in the main crowd outside the Head
Office, so you would not have been that far away from me.

  Q. When you were watching me, where were you standing?
       A. I was on the steps.

  Q. Was this throughout the whole time that you were watching
       me?
       A. As I said, I did move around a bit. I might have gone
to the bottom of the steps or alongside it, but I was not
far from the front door of the old building.

  Q. If you were coming from the tube station, was I ever beyond
the kind of old entrance of the doors of the hallway, the
kind of car park side of things?
       A. You would have been in the crowd outside the front door
up as far as the entrance to the office, the road entrance
       to the office.
