Day 237 - 18 04 96 - Page 54

  Q. Leach.
       A. No. The only Leach I know in the company was a
George Leach, and that was several years ago.

  Q. It probably does not even matter.

  MS. STEEL: No further questions.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Thank you.

                     Re-examined by MR. RAMPTON

MR. RAMPTON: Mr. Carroll, there is only one thing I need to
ask you about. It is a formality. Mr. Carroll, Ms. Steel
rightly pointed out this morning that there is not attached
to your first or your second statement a copy of the
shorter of the two leaflets which you say you saw
distributed on the 16th October, 1989. Can I ask you to
put that file away, please, and to get another file which
is a pink file, publication IA. Turn, please, to tab 48.
Now, that has got a handsome gentleman on the Ronald mark,
has it, on the front of it?
       A. It has, yes.

  Q. It has got "What's Wrong with McDonald's" and then some
printing. You see it has two sets of handwriting. The
clearer one says October 16th, 1989. That, I can tell you,
you should ignore because it belongs to Timothy Atkinson,
junior Counsel in the case. The other document we cannot
identify for you, I am afraid, but do not worry about the
date since you see on the second page underneath the text
       ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What does it say?

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, I cannot read it and I have not got the
       original here, I am afraid.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Above Mr. Atkinson's date, that is -----

MR. RAMPTON: All right. I am told, because Mr. Hill knows the
writing, it says it is handed to B de V.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Let me write it in.

MR. RAMPTON: Yes, my Lord. Handed to B de V, O/S, which
       is ---

  THE WITNESS: Outside.

  MR. RAMPTON: -- outside McD's, October 16th, 1989.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: What comes above that, can we see?

MR. RAMPTON: No. There are some words. "F", perhaps, and
       something which might be "envelope".

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It might be "enclosed was".

MR. RAMPTON: It might be "enclosed was". But, my Lord, no
