I believe you when you say that most Christians do not regard the Bible highly. That is because most "Christians" are not christian at all. Christianity is the biggest religion in the world. With over 2 billion of them, they make up almost 40% of the worlds population of 5.5 billion people. Most people have the attitude that "Since I believe in God and Jesus and since I celebrate Christmas and since I'm a good person I am a Christian" But where are those people on Sunday mornings? Not in church. And where are they on a friday night? At a bar or something. Sorry to break the news to you, but simply believing in Jesus and being good does not make you a christian. Those billions of non-church going christians are just fooling themselves. Of the two billion people who claim to be Christian, probably something like 25% of them are actually saved. People who only go to church on Christmas and Easter are secular Christians. Obviously they do not have a relationship with God or else they would love to be in church at least once a week.

So yes, most "christians" would agree that the Bible is fallible and contradictory, because since they are not really christians in the first place, the Bible means nothing more to them than a collection of historical facts and fun stories. And it is, but it is much more than just that. Christianity is not like Judiasm or other religions where you are automatically born into it or where someone who wishes to convert must go through some kinds of ritual and learn traditions. Someone becoms a Christian when they become "born again", when they accept God's free salvation personally in thier lives.
Sorry if I bored you.
