I think that you are right when you say that people invented religion and god for this reason. But in true life they do fear death. In my opinion a lot of people have trouble with the thought that their life may be for nothing, for no reason other then eat work ... and then die. Isn't this the reason why so many people try to become famous in one way or the other; so that people will remind them when they are dead. With becoming famous they succeed to ease their quest for eternal life. It's a natural behavour for people to believe in some kind of life after death. As it is the same for people to believe in someone greater then them. A lot of people have left the christain religion, to try and find the eternal happiness in some other religion. When one thinks about it it all comes down to the fact that men in incredibly small, and that it's knowledge means nothing when you compare it to the things we don't know. Didn't god use "I'm the beginning and the end, the alfa and omega" to define himself??? I often wonder if it isn't man himself who created this to give himself an agreable reason to live with the fact that he doesn't know everything.
