a lot of our comfort would have materialized in many cultural settings

I speculate a lot of our comfort would have materialized in many cultural settings, with various timelines of course. It seems to me that a preoccupation with hunting and gathering has only been replaced by our preoccupation with- whatever the 'culture' engineers have attracted us to. Seems that our institutions are no better off with all our comforts. Im only pondering- I admit- there is a certain pleasure in opening the frig vs. camping beside a large elephant kill till it is devoured by the family. But history is a nice context for the definition of wealth. It has a lot to say about the productive powers of the mind, and how we utilize our environements for the 'good'. I realize these are ideological generalities but Im just a regular 'joe' enjoying the conversation. Im on STRIKE at this time-Newport New Shipbuilding. Just want to close by saying that this is a 'spirited' message board- PEACE
