The moral of the story is, if you don't want it stolen, don't take it!!

good point. In an ideal world no one would nick stuff. I mean I've left my wallet, my mobile and my discman sitting in my bag while I did an 8 hour shift and no one touched it and nor did I expect anyone to. Okay so I may life in my idyllic little really great store world. I'm also very stupid for leaving it there. But still. The thing is, trying to catch the person out does very little. Youldn't it be better just to say something to them, I mean threatening them can't really be doing anyone any good, why not just try to make them feel guilty? Am I naive? Probably. But it's worked before, just not at work.
