Okay, in the spirit of debate here goes:: Politiclly correct--conforming to or adhering to what is regarded as orthodox liberal (or conservate IMO) opionion on matters of sexuality, race, etc.: usually used disparagingly to connote dogmatism, excessive sensitivity to minority (or majority IMO) causes, etc.
When I said that the definition of political correctness is when someone else tells you what is and what is not an okay way to react, I was trying to illustrate that this problem strikes across all notions of what is liberal and what is conservative. The problem with "liberal" political correctnes is the same as the problem with "conservative" political correctness. Take the word liberal and replace it with conservative and take the word minority and replace it with majority and you will see what I mean. Dictionaries only tell us the "official" definition of a word for the period of time in which they were entered into the big book. The problem with this is that the ways in which these words are used in the real world (including the effect on society that is caused) is constantly changing. What *I* was pointing out was the problem with political correctness, which is dogmatism, orthodoxy, and authoritarianism with which it is used.
Being sensitive to issues that affect * me* as a person does not make me politically correct. And I don't demand that others follow my line of thinking. I do demand that others allow me to speak just as they are allowed to. And in a "debate room" as this is, I have every right to say whatever the fuck I want. Regardless of the desires of the conservative PC Police. And guess what honey, I will do just that.

Why do you need to lighten up? You don't. I was being sarcastic, but really I don't expect you to understand such complicated ways of communicating. But if you aren't going to lighten up, then don't expect me to do it either. We are both allowed to react however we want. That's what happens when conservatives and radicals and liberals (political theory is not just a two-way street) stop being politically correct and stop fearing conflict. Without conflict we would never learn a damn thing because no new knowledge would ever challenge the former knowledge that we had, since we would choose to just turn it off.
For instance, I used to think that it was funny to make jokes about Mexican immigrants and their plight, right along with the rest of my fourth grade class mates. A few years later I learned that much of my family had been in the exact same uncomfortable position less than 100 years ago in this country. I thought that we were basically the "real" americans, those priveleged enough to be allowed survive economically on this soil. Mexicans just didn't *belong* here, I thought. That's why they were so damn poor and treated like shit. But then I *learned* that Italians were the first group to be called niggers in the US. And Irish were the first to be called spics. Hmmm, and their conditions were exactly the same too.... That personalized the whole thing for me and really opened my eyes for the first time. It's a cycle that repeats over and over like some stupid fraternity hazing for immigrants. Do I think it's funny that this happens? No. Am i going to remain silent while idiots bash my class and culture? No. Finally, am I politically correct? Hell no.
