you have a very good point there. so what you need to do is stand up to your manager and tell him, "look, it's really important that i concentrate on my school work now. as much as i'd like to help you out by covering your shifts, i'd like to finish school so that i will have more opportunities open for me than managing a fast food restaurant."

if your supervisor can't relate to this, i don't know what to tell you.
