: McSpotlight: And? - we're not defending parents who let their kids pester them into taking them there; but it's extremely irresponsible to target that section of the populace for intensive advertising in any case...

Explain why it is irresponsible exactly? I'm not having a go at you, but I really can't see how running an adverstising campaign (or several) directed at a particular demographic in this case children is exploitation. As I see it, it would be darn right stupid of McDonald's to ignore a section of the population because they are impressionable...it is only more reason to direct adverstising to them. What is McDonalds in the business for? I doubt it is to care for children. Thats not their job. That is left up to these children's parents to make informed decisions for them. McDonalds is in business primarily to make money. In that, I think they are doing rather nicely.

McSpotlight: So you have no objection to tobacco companies, say, aiming advertising at your children?

If any market is fair game for advertising, regardless of whether they have the mental faculties to judge, then you have no right to dictate what should and shouldn't be sold to them.
