Why are there two separate frames?
We wanted to make both an open forum for everyone and a place where people could put specific questions to the McLibel crew. So we came up with this two window idea - everyone can contribute to the left hand side, but just the panellists in the right.

Doesn't look like a normal IRC room to me
That's because we felt that getting hold of the IRC software often put people off. This runs on just cgi scripts, so nearly everyone can join in. There are disadvantages, though - like the refresh business.

What does 'refresh' mean?
It means that the server checks whether any new messages have come in and displays them on your screen. It will happen automatically every 30 seconds or you can hit 'refresh' to control it manually.

How do I join in?
Just fill in your name and email address in the boxes at the top right and hit 'join'. You will then be able to type messages into the new box that appears. When you hit 'send' your message will soon appear on the left hand side. Your email address wont be displayed.

How can I ask a question to a specific person?
Send a message as above, but make sure you label it clearly as a questions directed at a specific person. For example: "I would like to ask Dave Morris what his son thinks of McDonald's". With any luck, Dave will read your question and reply to it. His reply will appear on the right hand side.

How long does the webchat last?
Two and a half hours. Or more if we're having fun.
