Oh, I could go on for days about the FDA. I see your point DDN, as I can see now that one day the FDA says something is bad to eat, the next they say it is good. They allow dangerous drugs to enter the market. They have us more confused than ever.

For example: The FDA is pressured by a pharmaceutical company to pass a blood pressure drug. They approve it and the company earns millions. Unfortunately, a few years after people begin to take the drug, some develop liver problems. Solution? Put them on a drug to help the liver problem which in turn gives them arthritis. The cycle goes on and on. The FDA is not really here to protect the citizens.
Have you ever read the side effect list (more like novel) on a prescription pill? Very scary!!!!
They make it seem like very few people actually suffer these side effects (oh, 1% of people who take this will develop high blood pressure from it. Well 1 out 100 is what that really means and that is way too high for me.)

And then they try to ban herbal remedies, saying that their effectiveness isn't proven, they are just folklore. Well if these herbs didn't work why tell future generations that they do? The real problem is that the drug companies arent making billions of dollars on herbs.

Ok enough of my rant back to DDN's diet post. The FDA's high carbo diet would be ideal for an athlete who must train several hours a day and must consume a high amount of calories to maintain energy. This diet would be a death sentence to the average American, come to think of it their new one is too. Low carbohyrates and high protein will cause you to get fat and sick too. The truth is that we need both in moderate amounts, and I have never seen a government program that sends the message of moderation in anything come to think of it.
All the FDA is here for is to help corporations make money at the expense of innocent citizens.
