I thought you questioned the ability of an individual to excel at EVEN ONE specialized field if they had to do other tasks?

NOW you are suspicious that a person can have ONLY one specialized field?

You're playing BOTH sides of the argument.

To answer your question: it really depends on the level of productivity of a society at any given time---and the needs of society as determined democratically by that society.
