IMHO Marx, Engels, AND Lenin underestimated the land-grabbing, greedy tenacity of the peasant.

Capital, however, has been doing a splendid job of eradicating the peasant. The problems of the past will not be repeated in the future. The means of production---thanks to capital's immutable tendency towards concentration---is becoming more and more socialized (centralized) every day.

This makes the communist's task easier.
