One coupon per paying customer means just that. Was everybody in the car paying separately? If you'd gone into the restaurant would you have paid all in one order? A car load of people does count as one paying customer, in my opinion. I've never seen anyone go through a drive-thru and not put it all on the same order.

I think you're mistaken about the use of the coupon. And I think that if you yourself were rude to him about his not accepting the coupons on your terms (a loss for his restaurant) then you deserved the window slammed in your face.
