Why one works at McD's is that person's business. Many enjoy their jobs and don't feel exploited. We all gotta work somewhere.
In closing, there are cops here in the States (and maybe Australia too) with attitudes similar to yours, I've heard that Highland Park (a Dallas suburb) is crawling with 'em. Very scary indeed.
