I can not ascribe to any philosophy which dares to compare the consumption of an omnivorous diet with the genocide that occurred during the second world war. As well, Laurens van der Post, the highly regarded novelist and essayist, has written on the sense of betrayal felt by animals toward the humans they have trusted. In fact, the literature abounds in examples of other animals' understanding and compassion. Try looking with new eyes. Go, for instance, to a livestock auctionyard and stay for sometime, watching.
