If we're all sitting around having a whinge about conglomorates..
what about Shell Oil's implication in the murder of ken Saro-Wiwa
and the Ogonis??

How does the world sit back and allow this to happen?

Not all the world sits back and allows this to happen.
There are many things that you can do that will help.

For example, you could write a letter to Shell demanding that they clean up the mess in Nigeria
, release the other detained campaigners, provide compensation to the Ogoni people
and take responsibility for the executions and detainment of enviromental campaigners.

You could write letters to world governments and other multinational
companies, demanding economic sanctions on Nigeria
untill the military dictatorship is replaced by a democracy elected by the people.

You could picket Shell petrol stations and hand out leaflets to
inform others of what has been going on.

Many, many people are doing these things. Not everyone is sitting
down and letting it happen. As the largest oil operation in Nigeria, Shell Oil
accounts for ~50% of production. Oil provides 90% of Nigeria’s foreign income, and provides 80% of its
military budget.

Funding Shell funds murder. Hurting Shell hurts the Nigerian military.
