Unionization should be last resort.

I'm sure you mean $7.50 an hour. Now, on to unions. I believe that creating such an organization should be an absolute last resort, after all other attempts, including employee surveys, rap sessions, etc fail.

The disturbing thing I've noticed especially in recent years is that the majority of the unions have this "us vs. them" mentality. That by law of automatic judgment, everyone in management is a bastard, out to get the little guy, and the ultimate goal is to have the "right" [power] to disrupt operations any time that anything doesn't go their way. Either by striking, or work slowdown/stoppage, the firm and its customers be damned. Case in point: the UPS episode.

I'm out of time, but everyone really needs to think about this before they jump on the union bandwagon.
