Day 055 - 25 Nov 94 - Page 58
McDonald's define it, then I am not going to disagree.

Q. Ms. Dibb, can you -- I know it is not perhaps entirely
fair, so I forgive you if you cannot be exhaustive; maybe
it is best that I ask the question, then we have the break,
and then you give me the answer afterwards -- write down on
a little piece of paper the sorts of outlets that you see
as falling within the quick service restaurant sector of
the eating-out market?
A. Well, I referred earlier to advertising expenditure,
and I indicated on that the relative amounts of advertising
by those companies which I thought would be considered to
be rivals to McDonald's. If that is useful, perhaps we can
refer back to that.

Q. Maybe that is best, but if you would like a little bit of
time to find it?
A. I have it here.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If we have the break now, if you would like
to look at that? The other aspect in relation to Ms. Dibb,
if it has not already been sorted out, give a bit of
thought to when it is least inconvenient for her to come
back.

(Short Adjournment)

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you care to pick a moment at 4 o'clock or
even just before, Mr. Rampton, if you are not going to
finish your cross-examination anyway today, and then that
will leave a moment or two to discuss the arrangements for
Ms. Dibb without finishing too late.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, certainly -- also since once again it is
Friday.
(To the witness): Have you an answer to my question now?
A. Yes, the document that I referred to yesterday which is
the document from Campaign magazine ---

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, I remember the one.
A. -- the companies that McDonald's, I would consider, are
likely to consider its rivals within the sector that you
have just defined are here as Burger King, Kentucky Fried
Chicken and Pizza Hut.

Q. I would like you, if you would not mind -- I know it is
boring but you may find it enlightening -- to take a volume
from behind you No. 5 of the yellow bundles which is headed
"Nutrition". Please turn to tab 3 where you should find a
statement by somebody called Alistair Fairgrieve?
A. Yes.

Q. If you would be so good enough to turn to the back of that
statement, you will find an exhibit or appendix called AF1
which, I hope, consists of a number of coloured charts,
does it?
A. I do not think I have found it.

Q. If you would like to go right beyond the end of the typed
written statement, see if you get to AF1?
