: How much pain would you define as acceptable or little from an animal's perspective? What do the animals get out of these tests? Why should one species be able to benefit from the pain of another species?

I think that animal testing is fine. After doing a little research, I found that companies that do test animals breed them for that purpose. They don't just pick them out of the wild and kill them, so its not like the animals being tested are on the verge of extinction! Also in most cases I have discovered that 62% of the time the animal doesn't die, granted it probably gets sick but because of these animals people survive. I don't agree totally with cosmetic testing but for medical purposes, its definately needed. We could find the cure for AIDS with the help of a tested chimp!
