I know exactly what you mean!

I worked at Maccas for 4 years...I know exactly what you mean! I'm only 18 yet I was classed as 'too old', I was promoted to Crew Cheif but found that I was training younger kids who would later take over my shifts...my availability was incredibly flexible and I would often work unrostered shifts. By the end, I was only working 5 hours a week. Not nearly enough to pay rent or anything else.
I would also get classed as a employee unwilling to work if I could not come in for an unrostered shift or the one time (IN FOUR YEARS!) that I called in sick - I had broken my right hand - and yes, they still wanted me to come in ("Can't you at least order take on drive thru?" is what they said).

: Ever noticed that when you regularly fill shifts at short notice that you're the best thing since sliced bread?

: Ever noticed that when you're asked to fill a shift and you legitimately can't, you're unco-operative and not willing to work?

: Ever found yourself training youngones only to lose hours to them in the end?

: And what is old? Is 21 old? Apparently so. I only need this job for six more months while I finish my uni degree (yes, Maccas workers are educated, contrary to popular belief) however I'm suffering from lack of hours due to age discrimination. I'll do my seven rostered hours and then any others you want me to do because seven hours of work doesn't pay rent.

: Any thoughts anyone?
