McDonald's Manager Accused Of Sanitizing Coffee

Cream, sugar and hand sanitizer? A McDonald's manager in Painesville is accused of spiking customers' coffee.

Sharon Offak, 37, was charged Thursday with contaminating substances for human consumption, a first-degree felony. She manages the restaurant on Richmond Street. Offak is on administrative leave, pending the investigation.

Police said the manager put liquid hand sanitizer in the coffee when customers asked for free refills. Employees complained to police after allegedly seeing Offak spike the coffee Sunday.

No complaints were received from customers. Police are trying to determine how many customers were affected.

Offlak worked at the restaurant for 10 years.

She was released from jail on $10,000 bond.

The owner of the McDonald's said that the restaurant's coffee is safe.
