: :Witness the myth of Joshua stopping the earth in its orbit,

: I think physicists have actually accounted for this missing day. It happened.

You're not serious!

: :the six-day creation,

: Well what's a day to God you know? This big being who exists outside of time as we know it, why should he work within our choosen schedule of 24hr days?

If 'he' exists outside time (as we know it) 'he' also exists outside of space, so why a BIG being? That's what churches teach to scare you 'big and scary male god'. Why not small and even female???

: Anyway it's all symbolic sure the author's even using rehotric used in other beginning of time fables, pagan ones, EG God speaks as "we" and fears mans acquiral of knowledge (which is obviously crap!).

And they were probably on drugs which is well documented in human knowledge of history, but they didn't call them drugs back then

: :simultaneous creation,

: I dont know what that is.

Neither do I.

: :the denial of evolution,

: Now that fucks me off, it really, really does evolution is entirely consistant with God as a creator intervening to create material progress in species.

: That really annoys me, what good does denying this do? None. But what harm does it do? Lots it allows a whole superstitiousness to re-emerge so that science is seen as evil and Galileo style conflicts emerge.

What? It's a constant battle of science against god and each discovery has caused a modification of religious doctrine - you can check that with history books. So that evolution is so undisputed that neo-religious types are modifying their doctrine to include it. And even with God, why would 'he' intervene in evolution if he created it? Not only earth is evolving either everything we've discovered is, as far as we can see into space it's evolving.

: :It is clear that much of the Bible, at least, was written by fallible, mistaken humans.

: Yes, you'd think it was all to be taken literally, some of it doubtlessly is but not it all, these people where writting form a particular period in time etc. God wasnt the only influence on them, just as he isnt the only influence on people now.

It was Jesus, he was their influence in the new testament. The old testament is the first step away from separate gods to one god. They're just searching for an explanation as we are now, no different.

: :So let me ask:
: : "Why do those who claim Biblical inerrancy sumbit so willingly to their deluders?"

: Good question, if someones wrong I point it out.

I don't claim god why should they or you. We should keep our feet on the ground and worry about that. I don't believe in this god, no way, why should I? I believe in life, love, the sun and the earth which I can feel; why complicate that with delusions and force them on others!
