At least criminals in prison don't prey upon the wider society while they are in the joint.

Serious criminals like first degree murderers should be executed--they won't cause ANY problems after that.

On the other hand, the silly "drug war" should be ended. Most of the people in prison are there for drug "crimes", and they should be released. The drug war makes no more sense than the war on alcohol we waged ealier in the century. And the war on gun ownership makes even less sense.

But I'm all for locking up people who commit violent assaults, armed robberies, rape, and murder, and locking them up good. And the worst of them should be hung.
