: This is probably not the "room" for this discussion but away I go. Affirmative action is a form of racism (giving a job to someone on the basis of race). I understand the rationale behind the movement but do two wrongs make a right? Should we murder to stop murders? I do not believe so; consequently, I dont believe we should use racist measures to stop racism. Afirmative action is definitely an interesting topic and deserves another look. I think that there are better ways to "even the playing field" for everyone.

Dan your making me totally fucking exasperated you make these posts like capitalism is some kind of utopia for a level playing field (I'd like to know what you reakon is alevel playing field) you need perfect knowledge, perfect ability to compete and perfect starting marks Now THIS ISNT THE CASE MAN.

No one has perfect knowledge those that approach it use it to benefit themselves by living the lie and exploiting others instead of seeking to lead them out of it.

Not everyone has perfect ability some are disabled either physically or by a legacy of imperialist domination, exploitation and then the dregs like racism in america or secterian marches in Ireland.

Not everyone begins from a equal footing I cant expect to compete with Bill Gates or Richard Branson who incidentally got rich through a series of chance encounters etc. which some people call good business practice!!

I wasnt just talking about the blacks what I was implying that every worker by your measure having the right to be a boss should have an actual opportunity to be the boss. Of course this is impossible but it highlights the inequity.
