Message to B. Phalon (Konichi Wa!)

Bill, aka Spike, you asked a few days ago why I'm a vegetarian. My primary reason for being a vegetarian is ethical: I find it wrong to kill animals for their flesh when a perfectly acceptable, indeed nutritionally superior, vegetarian alternative exists (note #1 - I'm vegan, not veggie; note #2 - my ethical concerns are underscored by the miserable factory farm systems of today). Secondary reasons include the environment, social issues, aka world hunger, and spiritual.

I'd be happy to elaborate on why I'm a vegan/animal rights dude, but this is the capitalism & alternatives board, so either McSpotlight will say okay, spill your soy-ridden guts here, or do it on the Anything Else board, or please take it elsewhere, in which case, if you give me your email address, I'll send you a personal message.
